KC licensed sales’ agent seeks to train American Veterans about obtaining additional medical benefits through Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans

Barbara Murphy, a licensed sales’ agent in Kansas City, MO., specializes in the marketing of Medicare products, has come up with a plan to help American Veterans obtain additional healthcare benefits.

It’s called Veterans Helping Veterans, and it involves training U.S. armed forces Veterans to learn about Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans – and then enrolling eligible members.

“Most of our Vietnam Veterans are now over 65,” notes Murphy. “Some are living with the complications of cardiac and diabetic conditions, as well as other conditions. Some of these American Veterans do not realize they can possibly receive the extra health benefits of a Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan with their current health care benefits. Some SNPs come with a premium, some do not. These SNP plans are not available everywhere.

“These Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans can fill in the gaps where their present health care benefits do not provide coverage.”

Veterans Helping Veterans will be based in Kansas City, and Murphy will provide training, licensing, marketing, and financial support for 100 American Veterans to become licensed sales’ agents within the Medicare market. This group, “The Elite 100 of 2015,” will then be equipped to seek out other American Veterans eligible for additional health care benefits, explain their options, and help them sign up for the Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans.

“In addition to helping our American Veterans, it also creates 100 new jobs,” says Murphy. “So it’s a win-win situation all around.”

The cost to educate, license, certify, equip, and market each American Veteran is about $10,000, so Murphy is looking to raise $1 million to fund ‘The Elite 100 of 2015’. In order to generate this capital, she has launched an Indiegogo campaign, which can be viewed at www.indiegogo.com/projects/veterans-helping-veterans–13

Donations of any amount are welcome. The name of each donor will be placed on the walls of the training facility for these 100 American Veterans who become licensed sales’ agents for Murphy.

“It will be similar to the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.,” Murphy says. “It’s only appropriate that this new team of American Veterans, who will work to become licensed sales’ agents, be educated and certified right here in the heart of America, Kansas City. We’ll welcome American Veterans from all over the country, as we broadcast our message loud and clear: ‘Veterans Helping Veterans.’”
